Test that allows to measure the hardness of the material and determines the lateral surface of the indentation. It is used to measure the depth of coatings of outer layers or small section pieces.
To perform the test, a square-based diamond pyramid is used as the indenter.
The Vickers hardness is determined by: HV = P / S.
(P = kg load and S = indentation surface in mm2).
