They are alloyed carbon steels with elements so that they have greater hardenability.

In thick pieces, carbon steels cannot be tempered in all their thickness; this type of steels, thanks to the alloy, improve the penetration of quenching, obtaining extraordinary mechanical characteristics with respect to carbon steels.

They are characterized by a good toughness for a certain tensile strength after quenching and tempering.

Their most common applications are high responsibility pieces at room temperature, for the manufacture of heavy duty bolts, gears, crankshafts, connecting rods, shafts, axles for machinery and engines.
